Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound 1855 Black Angus Beef strip steak, cut 1/4-inch thick
  • All-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 2 small onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. Cut meat into serving size portions. Coat with flour.
  2. Heat a few tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meat on all sides, then transfer to a shallow baking dish. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium-low. Add onions and cook slowly, stirring often, until tender and well browned (about 10 minutes). Spoon the onions over the meat.
  4. Add 1 cup of beef broth to the skillet, stirring to loosen the browned bits from the pan. Pour the broth over the meat and onions.
  5. Cover the dish tightly and bake 1 to 1½ hours, or until the meat is tender.
  6. Skim off any excess fat, arrange steak and onions on a platter, and serve with pan juices.
